
HE Dr. Fatima Al Balooshi
Minister of Social Development
HE Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Boloushi was appointed Minister of Social Development in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2005. She assumed the post of Acting Minister of Health during 2011-2012 in addition to her post as Minister of Human Rights and Social Development during 2010-2012. HE assumed a number of positions at the University of Bahrain between 1996 and 2005. She was appointed Dean of Faculty of Education, and prior to that, she was Head of Educational Technology Department at the Department of Education. HE obtained her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Education, Educational Technology and Media, from Columbia University in 1990 and 1992, respectively. HE has been an active member at several local committees such as the Supreme Council for Women, GCC General Secretariat Distance Learning Officials Committee, and the GCC Supreme Council Advisory Committee. HE is also the Chairwoman of the National Child Committee, the Chairwoman of the National Committee of People with Special Needs and the Chairwoman of the Family Bank’s Board of Directors. HE has won many regional and international awards. She was ranked eighth on the Forbes list of Most Influential Arab Women in Government.
